It was the expected close match between Alexander Zverev and Tallon Griekspoor. The German had already described his opponent as dangerous beforehand, and that's exactly how it turned out. The Dutchman took the first set 7:6 (6). After that, Zverev's shoulders slumped and he lost a break at the start of the second set. In the course of the match, everyone got through their service game until 5:4 in favour of Griekspoor. The German number one secured important break points with a lucky return and a successful net attack. Griekspoor became unsure, Zverev clenched his fist, the crowd went wild - and the 27-year-old really did win 5:5, leaving everything open again. The second set was again decided in a tie-break: 7:6 (4) in favour of the number one seed. The decisive set went back and forth for a long time, then the German got a break for 4:3 and subsequently three match points. After more than three hours and with the score at 5:4, Zverev converted his fourth match point to win. "I don't even care if it was a rollercoaster ride - I won," said Zverev afterwards. "The crowd carried me to victory, I was already mentally exhausted, but in the decisive phase they got the crowd going." The world number three will face Fabian Marozsan from Hungary in the semi-finals on Saturday.
